Job Description

A Tendering Manager is required for our US based team to ensure the accurate completion of tenders for the Houston Sales team, review and approve purchase orders from clients, and maintain reporting for management on Tendering activities. 

The Tendering Manager – Houston will prioritize tendering team activities to achieve the Sales team’s requirements and oversee/maintain all necessary tendering team processes/procedures. Additionally, coordination with the Sales team and management will be required to set and maintain pricing/costing standards in line with company financial objectives.

 

As a Tendering Manager, the main responsibilities will include:

 

  • Management of the Sales Enquiry and Quotation process in Houston from receipt of inquiry through order acceptance in coordination with the Sales and Project/Service teams while maintaining positive customer relationships.
  • Manage and suggest improvements for the tendering process to improve efficiency and accuracy. Continuous improvement and development of process, systems, and procedures.
  • Line management of direct reports and other staff assigned to the tendering team to ensure bid deadlines are met, while making key technical decisions (within competence) ensuring a high level of accuracy is present in all output.
  • Creating of reports on actual cost of completed jobs to find cost improvement on future scopes.
  • Value engineering of tenders for submission and provision of additional support throughout the tendering lifecycle, including external Client meetings, ensuring timely output, quality, and accuracy of documentation and supporting the Sales team with customer negotiations.
  • Coordination and collaboration with multiple departments to prepare and submit tenders, pre-qualifications, and clarifications as required in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with the tendering process in Houston.
  • Identification of potential risks and mitigating actions within an effective risk register while seeking guidance to minimize impact to the business.
  • Provide regular reporting to management on the performance of the Sales and Tendering teams.
  • Management of the order acceptance and handover process through engagement of relevant departments prior to handover in accordance with tendering process
  • Support and work collaboratively with the Operations and Finance teams with regard to project invoicing in line with project tenders and incorporate feedback from project performance to improve future tenders.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring and development of the Tendering team members embracing JDR’s company values and ethics.

Job Requirements

As the successful applicant you will possess excellent communication skills, together with the ability to work calmly under pressure. Clear evidence of commercial knowledge gained from a proposals or project management background, while displaying responsibility and professional conduct.

Business management knowledge is necessary, as the role has a significant influence on the company’s financial performance. The successful applicant will also hold a degree in an engineering subject, or relevant experience gained in an engineering field. Ideally, previous experience in a similar role and or environment. Must hold a US passport and valid driving license as travel to meet customers and clients is a necessity.
