Job Description

Due to an internal move, we are now recruiting for a Senior Quality Engineer to join our busy Hartlepool team. The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for the Quality Control function in the supervision and administrative duties related to quality control, supporting the Quality Engineering and compliance activities ensuring that all products manufactured, inspected, tested and terminated by the Company are monitored and assessed for quality and compliance.  

Main responsibilities of the role:

  • Supervise the Quality Control Engineer and QC Inspectors on a day-to-day basis
  • Coordinate activities across a team of QC Inspectors at the manufacturing facilities, ensuring project ITPs are followed throughout the manufacturing process, all acceptance criteria is adhered to and verifying documents are produced and endorsed to record all results
  • Support the Lead Quality Engineer with all operational based root cause analysis investigations and verifying the effectiveness of identified preventative measures, whilst liaising daily with the Quality Team to ensure non-conformances are submitted to the client within contractual time scales ensuring the client is updated throughout
  • Support the Lead Quality Engineer and Corporate Quality Engineer in achieving complete quality compliant management systems in accordance with organisation plans and adherence to legislation and agreed regulatory bodies’ processes and procedures
  • Support Project Quality Engineers for on-site matters such as NCR meetings, RCA workshops, general inspections, and project support
  • As required, facilitate client visits to ensure all quality requirements are fully covered and recorded including ITP’s, FAT’s, and SIT’s etc. and the client is managed and well informed i.e. NCR investigations etc.
  • Conduct random compliance audits that will identify any lack of and/or improvements to policy and process, whilst assessing the effectiveness of current policies and processes making recommendations for the implementation of required changes
  • Facilitate awareness of quality control principles and concepts, promoting the review and challenge of working practices and methods to enhance performance
  • Promote and support the Th!nk Quality Programme

Job Requirements

The candidate should have previous experience within in a Quality Assurance / Quality Control supervisory role. Ideally, the candidate will have a background and experience with Auditing. A good working knowledge and understanding of Microsoft office is also essential.

The candidate should have and be able to demonstrate effective interpersonal skills for both internal and external stakeholders, with proven positive experience of a client facing role. Relevant inspection and supervisory experience in a production or engineering environment is vital to this position.

The candidate will ideally have formal qualification(s) within Inspection Techniques including but not limited to welding and radiography. It would be desirable for the candidate to hold Practitioner Membership (PCQI) or higher of the Chartered Quality Institute.
