Due to a department re-structure and to support the continuing growth of JDR, we have an exciting new position of a Senior Buyer which has opened up within our Supply Chain team.
The role of Senior Buyer is to purchase goods, management of materials and services to ensure that the Company operational needs are fulfilled, taking into account price, quality, legal implications, HSE and delivery and to ensure continuity of supply and the continuous running of all facilities.
Reporting into the Supply Chain Manager, the main responsibilities of the role will include:
• Purchase goods, materials, components or services in line with specified cost and quality. Working collaboratively with the Lead Negotiator in the renegotiating terms and conditions in line with the business requirements.
• Ensure the continuous supply of services and indirect provisions, communicating any supply issues which may pose a risk or impact to the business.
• Monitor market trends, competitor strategies and market supplier’s e.g. LME and metal exchange mechanisms, researching and evaluating areas of opportunity reducing costs where possible ensuring the best competitive price.
• Working with the Supply Chain Manager, maintain and monitor the robust process for indirect procurement, contributing to the development of ideas and strategies to improve operational efficiency, add value, aid business performance and work towards a strategy of continuous improvement.
• In collaboration with the Lead Negotiator, negotiate contracts, improve prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings utilising negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods.
• Have a good understanding of the legal requirements when negotiating frame agreements or agreed terms and conditions, liaising with the JDR and supplier legal teams cascading to the Buyers with regards to any requirements necessary.
As an experienced Senior Buyer, you will be highly skilled at building and maintaining effective and productive relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers. The candidate should have Strong negotiation, communication, interpersonal and influencing skills alongside strong technical knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes, components and supply chain management.
JDR Cable Systems are looking for a results orientated individual with the ability to plan and deliver against project deadlines with a proven track record of procurement achievement, preferably within a manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will have the ability to add value, reduce costs and make business improvements.
In addition to the above, the candidate should have Contract management and supplier experience, be commercially and financially aware with a strong commercial procurement background. The candidate will be computer literate, to include Microsoft office suite with a solid understanding of MRP/ERP system.
Experience of leading and managing a team is also important to this role and there is to be expected to travel both UK and internationally, so a clean driving license and passport is essential.
