Job Description

We are seeking a Newly Qualified Legal and Contracts Specialist to join our dynamic legal and commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven individual to work in a fast-paced environment, providing critical contractual and legal support to a range of internal stakeholders and clients.

As a Legal and Contracts Specialist, you will be part of a team that provides commercial, legal, and contractual advice across JDR's diverse product groups and services. You will play a key role in supporting client tenders, handling disputes, preparing contracts, and mitigating legal risks.

You will be responsible for the following:

  • Dealing with the commercial review of customer enquiries relating to the purchase of all JDR’s products, including reviewing terms and conditions of contract and advising on JDR exceptions.
  • Conducting contract negotiations with customers and supplier/subcontractors to agree mutually acceptable contract terms that minimise risks to JDR.
  • Consulting with external law firms to gain up-to-date legal advice pertaining to contracts and legal risks in order to minimise risks to JDR.
  • Legal support in defence and resolution of warranty and other claims with both customers and subcontractors to reduce JDR financial exposure.
  • Provide legal and contractual advice to Project Managers in relation to the contract terms to ensure the Project Managers are aware of the contractual and legal obligations of JDR.

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate will have experience in reviewing and negotiating terms and conditions of contracts, coupled with strong communication and organisational skills. Attention to detail, the ability to work under pressure, and meeting deadlines are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other current software packages is required. Additionally, experience in construction contracts, particularly in the renewables and offshore sectors, is desirable. Familiarity with dispute resolution, including litigation and arbitration, along with knowledge of construction insurance claims, will be highly advantageous.

The candidate should be a qualified or soon-to-be qualified Legal Executive, Solicitor, or hold another formal legal qualification.

We operate a hybrid working approach where you will be required to work a minimum of three days a week in the office and the other two days a week from home if you wish.
