Due to an internal move, we are currently recruiting for a Learning and Development Specialist to identify, deliver and put together the overall training and development interventions for JDR and support the Head of HR to enable JDR to meet its capability requirements both now and for the future.
Passionate about development and the early careers journey you will work in collaboration with the Head of HR and Resourcing Specialists, to deliver the early careers talent programme ensuring succession planning from entry roles e.g. apprenticeships through to senior level leadership to mitigate risks and facilitate the resourcing pipeline.
Reporting to the Head of HR, the main responsibilities of the role include:
Works with HR colleagues and Line Managers to pull together the overall training and development plan for JDR; including identification of priority areas, lead-times and budgeting in order to ensure that the plan is timely, cost effective and fit for purpose.
- Assist with the ad hoc delivery of learning and development interventions for the business and ensure these are integrated with the overall business strategy.
- Supports the Head of HR and HRBP colleagues with talent mapping pan-JDR, capability benchmarking and career pathing, including the identification of strategic requirements and opportunities for early years talent in order to mitigate risks.
- Promotes innovation and improves methods to meet our early talent needs, including rotation planning, regular 121’s and working with the Resourcing Specialists to have cost effective methods and tools in place to recruit early years talent including Apprentices, Graduates, Internships and Year in Industry placements.
- Undertakes market testing of providers to identify best price/quality provision. Analyses the effectiveness of learning and development interventions for benefits realisation.
- Undertakes transactional learning and development activity, including keeping training records up to date; makes bookings; arranges JDR inductions; keeps a register of executive coaches and mentors – supports any selection process in order that the HR team provides the right training and development at the right time.
- Proactively supports collaboration and the performance of the HR team, including taking responsibility for own development, multi-skilling, and the support of colleagues, so that the HR team is seen as credible, high performing and valued.
Ideally with previous experience of working in an HR or learning and development function, the suitable candidate will have previous experience using office systems to aid quarterly and annual reporting for analysis and the informing of future talent need. You will have a track record of delivery and added value interventions in early years talent and/or learning and development to successfully embed our people development culture.
You will have a genuine interest, passion and enthusiasm for learning and development, combined with commercial awareness and you will be able to demonstrate problem solving and initiative for the provision of training and development interventions that meet customer needs.
This is a hands-on, end to end L&D role where no two days are the same; so an individual with the ability to flex between different priorities and is not adverse to getting involved in the overall administrative requirements of the role is a must.
